Doing Fine in Month Nine!

(a few days late...)

Little Man has hit the 9 month mark with full force! He has four teeth that have cut through the gums and he's eating waffles, toast, peaches, pears, and various other finger foods along with his baby food. He is crawling with incredible speed, pulling up on everything, and even standing for a few seconds without holding on. He says mum-ma, da-da, and ya-ya. He is so ticklish and giggles and squeals when he gets going!

We love you Little Man!

Memorial Day Weekend

We were able to go to one of Brandon's favorite vacation spots: White Lake, NC. He grew up going there with his dad and grandpa, and his dad grew up going there with his dad. Brandon was so excited to pass on the traditions of good old White Lake!

Jam Packed Weekend

Where does the weekend go? I swear I just crawled into bed Friday night, closed my eyes, and I woke up  Sunday night.  Even though it was super busy, we had a great time as a family. Saturday morning Brandon and Little Man came to watch me cross the finish line at the Ballantyne 10k that I ran. (In an hour and fifteen minutes by the way.) Then we took Peyton to a friend's 1 year birthday party, where he got to "swim" with some friends! Today we went to church, a baby shower, AND got some yard work done. Here are some pictures of this weekend's adventures.

The girls before the race!

Out of the gate!

Catherine and I right out of the gate!

Heather and I right out of the gate!

Mommy & Little Man after the race!

Kathryn & Catherine!

About to cross the finish line.

Finally through!

This says 7 miles.... but it was a 10k, so who knows!

I love this one - Peyton loved splashing in the water!

Pool Party! (No diving!!!)

Playing with Jack and Toby.

Making some music!

You can't really tell, but Peyton is sitting on Toby's lap... and he kept doing it!
(You can see I'm rushing to move him!)

Hanging out with the Beckett & Toby!

Birthday Party snacks.

The Efird's baby shower for sweet baby Lincoln.

First tractor ride with Daddy!

Have a great week everyone!

Letting Go

"By letting go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try, the world is beyond winning." -Lao Tzu

I found this article on a friend's Facebook page and it really spoke to me because it is something that I am adamantly trying to do in my life right now.

14. GIVE UP ATTACHMENT
"This is a concept that, for most of us is so hard to grasp and I have to tell you that it was for me too, (it still is) but it’s not something impossible. You get better and better at with time and practice. The moment you detach yourself from all things, (and that doesn’t mean you give up your love for them – because love and attachment have nothing to do with one another,  attachment comes from a place of fear, while love… well, real love is pure, kind, and self less, where there is love there can’t be fear, and because of that, attachment and love cannot coexist) you become so peaceful, so tolerant, so kind, and so serene. You will get to a place where you will be able to understand all things without even trying. A state beyond words."

When you first think of doing this, initially it feels completely counteractive of what we are meant to be and do in relationships with people you care about. Especially if you are a woman. As a mother you feel that love and attachment are one in the same. So far I'm learning that attachment from fear and reacting from fear ARE NOT love and caring for people. They are two separate ends of the spectrum: healthy and unhealthy ways of caring and loving. I think a big part of this is also "letting go of the past", especially a past you are afraid of.
